Our EYFS Programs

Seven Areas of Learning and Development for children from 45 days to 5 years following British Early Years Foundation Stage

Tulip Blossoms

45 Days–12 Months

Becoming Emotionally Secure, Sensory Aware & Trusting

At this tender stage, your baby is learning to feel safe, loved, and connected to the world.

  • To trust others and build early emotional bonds
  • To explore the world through touch, sound, movement, and smell
  • To respond to voices, songs, and facial expressions with joy and interest
  • To begin recognizing their routine, surroundings, and caregivers
  • To feel calm, regulated, and secure in a predictable, loving environment
  • To start using early gestures and sounds to communicate needs
  • To observe and begin mirroring emotional responses
  • To engage in purposeful movement: rolling, reaching, grasping

This is the foundation for empathy, communication, and confident exploration.

Tulip Explorers

1–2 Years

Becoming Curious, Expressive & Independent

Your toddler is beginning to discover their identity and independence, learning to express themselves and make sense of the world through movement, language, and social play.

  • To express emotions, desires, and preferences with words and gestures
  • To say new words daily in both Arabic and English
  • To navigate boundaries and start developing emotional control
  • To understand cause and effect through trial and error
  • To form their first friendships and social connections
  • To perform simple tasks like feeding, tidying, and dressing with assistance
  • To explore independently but safely, gaining confidence in unfamiliar settings
  • To enjoy role-play and mimic real-world behaviors (pretend cooking, parenting, etc.)

This is where independence is sparked and expressive confidence begins to bloom.

Tulip Beginners

2–3 Years

Becoming Communicative, Responsible & Ready to Learn

At this stage, children begin to understand structure, memory, and emotions. They become problem-solvers, communicators, and eager helpers who want to be part of everything.

  • To express full thoughts and needs in short sentences
  • To follow 2–3 step instructions and ask "why" questions
  • To use and switch between Arabic and English words naturally
  • To understand how actions affect others and begin to make kinder choices
  • To recognise and name emotions (theirs and others')
  • To identify colours, shapes, numbers, and letter sounds
  • To become toilet trained and responsible for their belongings
  • To build attention span through stories and hands-on activities
  • To begin developing a growth mindset: trying again after small mistakes

This is the stage where children begin to take ownership of their learning and actions.

Tulip Risers

3–4 Years

Becoming Socially Aware, Academically Curious & Emotionally Balanced

Children now become group learners, gaining emotional depth, creativity, and a hunger to know more. They begin thinking critically, asking deep questions, and collaborating confidently.

  • To decode words and write names with early literacy skills
  • To count, measure, compare, and recognise number patterns
  • To negotiate in play, take turns, and lead small group tasks
  • To start reading and writing in both Arabic and English
  • To handle conflicts with guidance and reflection
  • To explore identity through dramatic play, storytelling, and expression
  • To feel pride in completing small responsibilities: setting tables, watering plants
  • To build early scientific thinking through inquiry-led experiments
  • To take pride in their cultural identity and heritage through local stories and art

This stage strengthens self-regulation, academic readiness, and cultural appreciation.

Tulip Leaders

4+ Years

Becoming Independent Thinkers, Kind Communicators & Creative Problem Solvers

This is the culmination stage—where all areas of development converge to build a confident, capable, and compassionate young learner who's ready for school and the world ahead.

  • To read full sentences and compose short thoughts in writing
  • To confidently use Arabic, English, and French alphabet sounds
  • To apply maths thinking in everyday situations (timing, money, measuring)
  • To plan, design, and present projects using teamwork and critical thinking
  • To speak publicly with confidence and clarity
  • To solve peer conflicts with empathy and communication
  • To take ownership of routines, hygiene, belongings, and learning
  • To lead small group activities, tell stories, and teach others
  • To reflect on their actions and understand cause, impact, and improvement
  • To leave nursery with a love of learning, a sense of purpose, and pride in self

Here, the child becomes a confident leader—ready for big school and lifelong learning.
